Peter Stager

Stager is seen on video striking a Capitol Police Officer with an American flag.  The officer was belly down, and POLICE was clearly visible on the back of the officer.

Obstruction of an Official Proceeding and Aiding and Abetting (1) Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers Using a Dangerous Weapon (10) Civil Disorder (14) Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (18) Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (19) Engaging in Physical Violence in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (20) Act of Physical Violence in the Capitol Grounds or Buildings (24)

Case Status

Arrested 1/14/21. Initial appearance held 1/19/21. He was ordered to remain in custody. Indicted 1/29/21. Superseding indictment issued 3/12/21. Arraigned 3/24 and pleaded not guilty to counts 1,2,6,8,9,10,14. Remains committed. Third superseding indictment issued 11/17 and redacted 12/2/22. Plea Agreement Hearing held on 2/16/2023, entered a plea of guilty as to Count 10 of the Third Superseding Indictment. On 7/24/23, he was sentenced to 52 Months of incarceration, followed by 3 years of supervised release (with conditions). Stager was ordered to pay a $100 special Assessment and restitution in the amount of $2,000.
