Mason Joel Courson

Mason was in Washington DC to hear President Trump speak. At the Capitol, he and a group of men were accused of attacking officers in the Lower West Terrace, where eyewitnesses identified police brutality.

It’s possible Courson and others used a flagpole, baton, and crutch in self-defense to fight back against officers attacking the crowd. In his statement to police, Courson stated hitting an officer was warranted that day due to the “chaos of the situation.” He described the environment as a “war zone.”

Please keep in mind that in the United States, every citizen charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
