James Grant

Grant and Ryan Samsel allegedly lifted police barricades outside the Capitol. Meanwhile, someone jumped over them and the crowd proceeded to run through the area. Grant allegedly stopped an officer who grabbed a protester’s shoulders as he crossed the police line.

Case Status

Grant was arrested on 10/14/21 and appeared in court on 10/20/21. He was released w/ conditions on 10/21/21. On 12/15/21 case #21-mj-00618 was closed and merged with #21-cr-00537. Another arrest warrant for Tate was returned executed on 1/2/22. Third superseding indictment on 1/13/22. He entered a plea of not guilty as to all counts on 1/18/2022. Fourth superseding indictment issued 2/15/23. Grant remains incarcerated. Jury selection for his trial begins on 10/23/23 at 9 30 am in Courtroom 21.
