Cody Mattice

Mattice allegedly ripped down a barrier that eventually gave protesters access into the Capitol. He and James Mault allegedly sprayed police who were confronting the crowd in the lower west terrace.

Case Status

Mattice was arrested on 10/7/21. Ordered detained pending trial on 10/22/21. During an arraignment on 11/9, he pleaded not guilty to all charges. On 4/22/22, he entered a plea of guilty to Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers or Employees, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 111(a)(1), a lesser-included offense in Count 4 of the Indictment. Sentencing held on 7/15/2022, sentenced to serve a term of forty-four (44) months incarceration followed by a term of thirty-six (36) months of supervised release and ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $500.00. An oral motion by the government for the dismissal of all remaining counts of the Indictment, including the greater offense of 111(b), was granted.
