Sturgeon was arrested at JFK airport in New York on 3/6/21. Released on personal recognizance on 03/19/21. Entered a plea of not guilty as to all counts on 5/5/21 and on 8/5/21. During a bench trial on 5/24/23, Sturgeon was found guilty of counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. On 7/5/23, sentencing for defendants Bingert and Sturgeon was reset for 9/25/2023 at 4:30 PM in Courtroom 15 (in person) before Judge Royce C. Lamberth.
