David Charles Johnston

Johnston and his neighbor Chad Clifton attended the Stop the Steal rally together. Clifton filmed the two men inside the Capitol. They appear to walk through the rotunda, crypt, and visitors center peacefully.

Case Status

Johnston was arrested on 5/20/22. Indictment issued 5/23. On 5/27/22, he plead not guilty to all charges and was ordered released. On 9/23/22, Johnston entered a plea of guilty as to count 4 of the Information (doc #7). On 12/16/22, he was sentenced to 36 months probation with special conditions of intermittent confinement and home detention. In addition, he was ordered to pay to the Clerk of Court for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia a special assessment in the amount of $10.00, a fine in the amount of $2,500.00, and restitution in the amount of $500.00.
