Robert Gieswein

Gieswin was in the crowd that pushed past the police barrier. He allegedly sprayed an unknown substance at police. The government claims he entered the building through a broken window.  He is pictured wearing a tactical helmet (with strips of orange duct tape) and vest over his camouflage top.

Case Status

Arrested 1/18/21. Initial appearance 3/29/21. Ordered to remain detained pretrial. Arraigned 4/15/21 and plead not guilty to all counts. Superseding Indictment issued 1/14/22. Second superseding indictment issued 8/3/22. On 8/5/22, he plead not guilty to all counts. On 3/6/23, he entered a plea of guilty as to counts 4 and 9 of the Second Superseding Indictment. Sentencing held on 6/23/2023, sentenced to a term of 48 months of Incarceration on each of Counts 4ss, 9ss, with terms to run concurrently, followed by a term of 36 Months of Supervised Release. Special Assessment in the total amount of $200 ($100 for each Count)- Restitution in the amount of $2,000. Oral motion by the Government to dismiss all remaining counts, heard and granted.
