Barry Bennett Ramey

Ramey is accused of spraying Capitol Police officers with a chemical irritant at the staircase from the Lower West Terrace to the Upper West Terrace.

Civil Disorder (1) Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers Using a Dangerous Weapon (2) Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers Using a Dangerous Weapon (3) Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (4) Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (5) Engaging in Physical Violence in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (6) Act of Physical Violence in the Capitol Grounds or Buildings (7)

Case Status

Ramey was arrested on 4/21/22. He plead not guilty to all charges on 6/13/22 and on 6/15/22. During a bench trial on 3/3/23, Judge Dabney L. Friedrich found him guilty of all charges. He remains committed. Sentencing occurs on 6/1/23 at 10am.
