Lucas Denney

A tipster contacted the FBI alleging that Lucas Denney was at the Capitol. He and Donald Hazard allegedly belonged to a Facebook Group called “Patriot Boys” that discussed the events of Jan. 6th.

Lucas, Hazard, and others shouted and chanted with others outside the crowd. Denney is accused of shoving a police officer.

Please keep in mind that in the United States, every citizen charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Assaulting, Resisting, or Impeding Certain Officers with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (1) Civil Disorder (2) Obstruction of an Official Proceeding (3) Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding (4) Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (5) Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (6) Engaging in Physical Violence in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon (7) Act of Physical Violence in the Capitol Building (8)

Case Status

Lucas Denney was arrested on 12/7/21. According to the docket, Denney was held in custody as the Court found "the United States violated Rule 5.1 and 18 U.S.C. 3060 by failing to provide Mr. Denney with a timely preliminary hearing after his initial appearance in the Western District of Texas. The Court was prepared to release Mr. Denney under 18 U.S.C. 3060(d). However, when the Grand Jury returned an indictment against Mr. Denney on 3/7/2022, Mr. Denney's right to discharge [from custody] pursuant to 3060 ceased." A motion for release was denied 6/1/22 (doc #45). Sentencing Hearing held 9/28/2022, Denney was sentenced to 52 months of incarceration followed by 36 months of supervised release, a $100.00 special assessment is imposed, and restitution. A restitution amount of $5,601.94, made payable to the Metropolitan Police Department ("MPD"), for Sergeant K.K.'s medical bills and sick leave, was ordered.
